Fulham FC

Fulham Football Club is an English football club based in the Fulham, London. They are one of the oldest clubs in England and the oldest professional side in London. They currently feature in the English Premier League.

The club was founded in 1879 as Fulham St. Andrew’s Church Sunday School by followers of the Church of England on Star Road, West Kensington. They turned professional in December 12, 1898 and were admitted to the Southern League’s second division. In 1902-1903 they were promoted to the first division. In the 1931-1932 season the club won the third division South.

The club reached the top tier of English football in 1949-1950 and struggled from the very start. They then featured in the second division for a number of years and also featured in the old first division but did not win any major honour. Johnny Haynes was a huge figure for the club in 1950 and 1960s.

Fulham reached the final of the FA Cup in 1975 as a second division team for the only time in their history.

However, Fulham were relegated to the new third division, the lowest rung in the Football League ladder, at the end of the 1993-1994 season but with the arrival of Micky Adams as manager in February 1996 things started to improve. Then multi-millionaire Mohamed Al-Fayed tookover the club and invested money into the club and Fulham made their debut in the English Premier League in the 2001-2002 season.

Fulham have playing in the Premiership since then although they are more or less a relegation contender these days and are just managing to survive in the English top flight.

Fulham play their home matches at Craven Cottage which has a capacity of 30,500. They bear the nicknames the Cottagers and the Whites.
