New York Rangers is an NHL-team in the Atlantic Division of the Eastern Conference.

The Rangers is one of the original 6 NHL teams (with Montreal Canadiens, Toronto Maple Leafs, Boston Bruins, Detroit Red Wings, and Chicago Blackhawks) and the first team from New York City. In the 80s they were joined by the New York Islanders that are based on Long Island.

The Rangers have their arena at the Madison Square Garden which is situated right on Manhattan and which is shared with the NBA-team New York Knicks.

They have won the Stanley Cup four times, the last time in 1993/94, before that they had not held the trophy since 1940. The Rangers have won the Atlantic Division five times and the Eastern Conference once.
