Sussex County Cricket Club fan club
Sussex County Cricket Club is one of eighteen professional major clubs in English domestic cricket. All the home games are played by this team at the County Cricket Ground in Hove which has a maximum capacity of 4000. Initially the team used to participate only in the Minor Counties Championships.
The Sussex county was introduced to cricket way back in the 16th century. The Sussex Cricket Club was officially formed on 17th June 1836. The debut first class match was played by this team in 1839 against the Marylebone cricket club.
Several reputed players like Murray Goodwin, Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi, Saqlain Mushtaq, Javed Miandad, Tony Greig, Imran Khan, Vasbert Drakes, Michael Bevan, Mushtaq Ahmed and Mohammad Akram have been a part of the Sussex club at some point of their career.
Sussex Cricket Club could win the county championships title in 2003 after a long wait of hundred years. However after winning this title once the performance of the team has improved considerably. This successful performance was repeated in 2006 and 2007. During the 2007 title the Sussex team defeated Surrey, Lancashire and Worcestershire cricket clubs and won a well deserved cup.
In the limited overs cricket tournament the name of the team that represents the Sussex county is the Sussex Sharks.
