Juventus is one of the oldest and most renowned clubs in Italy and also one of the most successful clubs in Europe.
Due to a match fixing scandal they had to play the 2006/07 season in Serie B but after winning it they were promoted back to Serie A for the 2007/08 season. This was the first season in the club's history outside the Italian first division.
Juventus is one of the most popular clubs in the world in terms of number of fans. They are estimated to have 11 million fans and 21 million supporters in Europe. Still, at the home ground Stadio delle Alpi only an average of 35,000 show up per game as the stadium is not ideal for football and a lot of the fans prefer to watch the games from home. However, the demand for away tickets is great, which means that the club has a lot of support in other parts of Italy. The main rivals are local Torino and Inter Milan. When Juve plays Inter it is referred to as the Derby of Italy. The team is sometimes referred to as La Vecchia Signora (the Old Lady) by fans.
Juventus has won 51 official trophies and is thereby one of the most prestigious clubs in the world. The titles include, but are not limited to:
- 27 Italian championships
- 9 Italian Cups
- 4 Italian Super Cups
- 2 Champions League
- 3 UEFA Cups
