Real Valladolid Club de Fútbol are a modest Spanish club based in the city of Valladolid in Spain. Founded on June 20,1928, Real Valladolid had to trudge most of their history in the lower divisions but ultimately gained promotion in the 1947-1948 season and the very next year reached the final of the Copa del Rey (Spanish Cup) but were beaten 4-1 by Athletic de Bilbao.
Valladolid were formed by the mergence of Real Unión Deportiva de Valladolid and Club Deportivo Español and after gaining promotion in 1948 for the first time ever in La Liga, they sustained their place in the Spanish top flight for the next 10 years.
Since then the club has been oscillating between the Segunda Divison and the Spanish first division. They haven't conquered Spain at any time but did reach the Copa del Rey quarter-final in 2007.
Valladolid bear the nickname Pucela (the way the Romans called the city). They play their home matches at the Nuevo Estadio Jose Zorrilla which has a capacity of 26,512.
