Dinamo Riga is a professional ice hockey based in Riga, Latvia. As of 2009, they are a member of the Kharlamov Division in the Kontinental Hockey League (KHL). Team colors for Dinamo Riga are Red, White and Silver. The Dinamo Riga logo depicts a stylized letter ‘D’.

The team is one of the youngest teams in the KHL and was founded in 2008. They are named after their successors, who ceased to exist in 1995. The team is owned by several important figures in Latvian politics. One of the team owners is a former Latvian president (Guntis Ulmanis) and a former Prime Minister (Aigars Kalviti).

Dinamo Riga is one of the 24 initial teams that pioneered the KHL. In the Kharlamov Division, the Dinamo Riga is the only Latvian Team. They were also the first team that faced Amur Khabarovsk in the initial KHL games. They defeated Amur with a score of 4 – 2. The Arena Riga serves as home ice for Dinamo Riga. The arena has the capacity to sit 12,000 spectators.

Most of the players in the team are of Latvian origin. The Dinamo Riga team, however, has several imports including two Czechs, three Canadians and one player from Slovakia. Goal tenders for the team include Sergejs Naumovs and Czech Matin Prusek. Defensemen include Rodrigo Lavins, Guntis Galvins, Czech Filip Novak and Canadian Duvie Westcott. Forwards include Lauris Darzins, Mikelis Redlihs, Slovakian Marcel Hossa, and Canadian Mark Hartignan and Matt Ellison. Defenseman Lanvins also serves as team captain for Dinamo Riga. Normunds Sejejs serves as the team’s general manager while Julius Supler is the head coach.

Farm clubs for Dinamo Riga include HK Riga 2000, which plays for the Belarusian Extralgia. The Latvian Hockey League is also another farm team for Dinamo Riga.
