The Baltimore Orioles are a major league baseball team, located in Baltimore, Maryland. They are part of the Eastern Division of the American League.
Stadium
The Orioles play at Oriole Park at Camden Yards, and have done since 1992. From 1954 to 1991, they had played at Memorial Stadium.
Nickname
The "Orioles" name refers to the Baltimore Oriole, the state bird of Maryland. Many sports teams in Maryland have been called Orioles. Nicknames for the team include the O's and the Birds.
History
The Baltimore Orioles have been in existence since 1954, but the franchise as a whole has been in existence since 1901. They were one of the American League's eight charter franchises, established in Milwaukee, Wisconsin in 1901, and called the Milwaukee Brewers (not to be confused with the current Milwaukee Brewers).
This Brewers team moved to St. Louis, Missouri in 1902 and became the St. Louis Browns. Then, in 1954, the Browns moved to Baltimore and became the Orioles.

From 1954 to 1959, the Orioles did not post a winning season. Their record in 1954 was 54-100. In 1955, their record improved only slightly, to 57-97. The most games they won in any season during this period was 76.
1960-1969
