Racing de Santander

Real Racing Club de Santander often referred simply as Racing Santander are a Spanish club based in the city of Santander in the Cantabria region of Spain. They are currently playing in La Liga and are flying high in the Spanih top flight in the 2007-2008 season.

Racing Santander were founded in the year 1913 and during the regime of the Spanish dictator General Francisco Franco, the club had to rechristen themselves as Real Santander. That was in 1941 but the name was restored back to Racing Santander in 1977 immediately after Franco’s demise.

Racing Santander have featured in La Liga for a total of 39 seasons and are not traditionally a big club in Spain. They play their home matches at Estadio El Sardinero that can house a total of 22,271 people. Racing bear the nicknames Verdiblancos, Racinguistas and Montaneses. Edit text
