In the Indian Premier League the franchise which is based in Chennai and owned by India Cements Ltd. is called as the Chennai Super Kings. The home ground of this team is the M.A. Chidambaran Stadium also called as the Chepauk. To attain the rights of this franchise for a decade the India Cements paid 91 million USD. The brand ambassador of this franchise is the former Indian batsman and skipper Krishnamachari Srikanth.

On 28th April 2008 at Bangalore it defeated Royal Challengers Bangalore by 13 runs. On 8th May 2008 at Delhi it defeated Delhi Daredevils by 4 wickets. On 10th May 2008 at Chennai it defeated Kings XI Punjab by 18 runs. On 18th May 2008 at Kolkata it defeated Kolkata Knight Riders by 3 runs. On 27th May at Hyderabad it defeated the Deccan Chargers by 7 wickets. In the semi final against Kings XI Punjab on 31st May at Mumbai it won by 9 wickets.
