Clausura is a Spanish word and means “closing” in English. In most Latin America football leagues, such as Argentina, Mexico and Colombia, Clausura is the second section of the season.

The Clausura championship is held in the second half of the calendar year in nations such as Chile and Colombia while it is held in the first half of the calendar year in countries such as Argentina and Mexico. In most countries, the Clausura has its own champions.
