Chemnitzer FC is a professional German football team having its base in Chemnitz, Saxony. Though founded in 1966, the roots of this club go back to its foundation as Chemnitzer BC 1933 post bankruptcy of former team, Chemnitzer BC 1899. Nicknamed as Die Himmelblauen (Sky Blues), the team play their home matches in Stadion an der Gellertstrabe. The Chairman of this club is Mathais Hanel and the head coach of the club is Gerd Schadlich.
Major Achievements
Since its inception, Chemnitzer FC has won various awards and honors. These include the East German championship in 1967, the East German vice-championship in 1990, the East German Cup in 1969, 1983 and in 1989. Moreover, the team was the German Cup semi finalist team in 1993 and the winner of Saxony Cup in 1997, 1998, 2006 and in 2008.
Other than that, the team was the champion team of the Gauliga Sachsen consecutively in 1935 and in 1936. They were the runner up team of NOFV-Oberliga Sud in 2008 and the champions of Regionalliga Nord in 2011.
