Sport-Club Freiburg is a German football club based in the city of Freiburg in the Breisgau district of Baden-Wurttemberg. They currently feature in the German Bundesliga and gained promotion for the 2009-2010 season after winning the German second division title in 2008-2009.

SC Freiburg can trace their history back to 1904 and were established on March 30,1904 after SV and Union were merged together. Freiburg did undergo several mergence since then and played in the highest level of German football from 1928 to 1934.

Freiburg finally broke into the German Bundesliga in the 1993-1994 season, finished third in the league the following season and qualified for the UEFA Cup. They suffered relegation from the Bundesliga in 1997. That was their first of three relegations from the German top flight.

SC Freiburg won the German second division championship in the 2008-2009 season and gained promotion to the German Bundesliga for the 2009-2010 season.

SC Freiburg play their home matches at the badenova-Stadion that can accommodate 25,000 spectators.
