Planus began his football career with Bordeaux in 2002. Till now, he has made two hundred and eleven appearances and has succeeded in scoring goals three times. It was believed by many that the performance of Bordeaux was affected at the time when Planus was sidelined due to injuries.
Impressed by the positional sense, commitment and clearances of Planus, Coach Raymond Domenech found him suitable for French squad for FIFA World Cup 2010. He entered the side at an age of 28. He made his international debut in 2010 and has made one appearance for France till date.
