Benoit Assou-Ekotto
Benoit Assou-Ekotto is a Cameroonian international football player who currently features for the English Premier League club Tottenham Hotspur. He is a defender and plays as a left-back.
Assou-Ekotto started his European club football career in 2003 for French side RC Lens and played for them for three seasons. He played in 66 French Ligue 1 matches in three years.
Assou-Ekotto was then transferred to north London side Tottenham Hotspur in the summer of 2006 for £3.5 million but the Cameroonian failed to break into the starting line-up regularly. However, he soon began to come into his own and is now an important player for the first team, having made over 150 Premier League appearances for Spurs.
Assou-Ekotto made his international debut for Cameroon against Guinea in a friendly match on February 11, 2009 and has featured in 17 games for his country so far.
