Diego Alves Carreira is a Brazil international football player who currently features for the Spanish club Valencia. He is a goalkeeper and is rated as one of the best in Spain.
Alves developed at the Brazilian club Clube Atletico Mineiro and made his professional debut in 2004 and played for them until the summer of 2007 when he was transferred to Almeria in Spain. He made 18 league appearances for them in the 2007-2008 season.
Alves continued to impress at Almeria and caught the attention of Valencia in 2011 who signed him following the relegation of Almeria at the end of the season. He struggled to play regularly for the first team and but gradually earned his place between the posts on a regular basis.
Alves made his debut for Brazil on November 10, 2011 in a friendly international against Gabon and has since played six more matches for his country. He also played for Brazil at the 2008 Beijing Olympics.
