Manchester City take on Liverpool at home in one of the games of the weekend, as the big guns look set to battle it out over the top four spots.

Pep Guardiola vs Jurgen Klopp is the name of the game by any other measurements surely, as the two managers renew their rivalry which was left unattended when Klopp left Dortmund to come to Liverpool.

Manchester City have had a good start in the league under the former Barcelona man with 17 wins for Guardiola from 27 games played. The competition in the squad has been intense with periods where even the legendary Kun Aguero has found himself benched by the likes of Kelechi Iheanacho and Gabriel Jesus.

Liverpool on the other hand have crumpled against the bottom teams when they have lost Sadio Mane from attack or their defense has been makeshift with Lucas forced to do duty at centreback.

Their season has been characterised by their absolutely unbelievable form against sides in the top six and their abysmal showings against sides in the bottom half of the table.

The two sides have met in the competition 39 times with an astonishing 14 games ending as draws while Liverpool have won the lion’s share of the rest with 18 wins to their name. However 14 of those wins have come at Anfield, and they play this one at the Etihad so matters could turn out to be very different.

It is interesting to note that Liverpool have won all four of their encounters against the CItizens in the recent past, with their last defeat coming in August at the start of the 2014/15 season at the Etihad.

Liverpool are gunning for top four with a very serious gunner at the helm in the form of Jurgen Klopp and Guardiola is no pushover either, this one is shaping up to be quite a rivalry with tactics being thrown out of the window and reshuffled for this game. It promises to be quite the nail biter for both sets of fans.
