Alex Yoong

Alex Yoong has done everything there has to be done. He has driven at all levels of motor racing including the highest level, Formula One. Starting in Karts gave him the perfect launch pad for a professional career, which began at the age of 15.

Alex set the domestic scene ablaze with a number of wins and podium finishes at all the different levels of the sport in Malaysia. He won 8 races in the Formula Asia series as well as a second place in the British Formula 3 series in 1998. In the same year, Alex also came second in the European Formula 3000 series.

His skill and driving ability led to testing for Formula One. In 2001, at the end of the Formula One season, Formula One minnows, Minardi came forward and pulled him up on board for the new season. In his 15 races with the team, Alex had a major highlight when he came second in the 2002 Monaco Grand Prix. After his tryst with Formula One, Alex came back to Asia for the Porsche Carrera cup Asia race and then to the Malaysia A1 GP team.

With the A1 Team, Alex has brought his experience & skill and has led the way in development and testing in the new form of racing. Alex will be bringing his driving to the new season as well in an attempt to propel A1 Team Malaysia higher in the rankings.
