Joe Soto or Joseph Angel Soto is a professional mixed martial artist born on March 22, 1987. He is an American fighter currently signed under the Ultimate Fighting Championship and competing in the bantamweight division. He made his professional career debut in mixed martial arts in 2006 and had signed under Bellator. In fact, he was the first featherweight champion in the said promotion.
Soto is the fourth son of a financially struggling family. During his younger years, his mother was a house cleaner while his father was a garbage man. He grew up in a very religious family and attended Porterville High School, where he was part of the wrestling team. He was able to attend Iowa Central Community College because of an athletic scholarship. During his time in college, he wrestled with future mixed martial arts superstars, Cain Velasquez and Jon Jones.
Soto was born in the beautiful town of Porterville in California. In mixed martial arts, he is known as, “One Bad Mofo” and “The Hammer”. The 29-year old stands 5 feet and 6 inches and comes with a 65-inch reach. His main styles of fighting include Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and boxing. He comes with a brown belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and trains with Nor-Cal Fighting Alliance.
Since 2006, he accumulated a mixed martial arts record of 20 fights with 15 wins and 5 losses. Some of his accomplishments in the sport, aside from his championship title under Bellator, include a one-time bantamweight championship title under Tachi Palace Fights and the winner of the Bellator Season One Featherweight Tournament.
