Nate Diaz or Nathan Donald Diaz is an American mixed martial artist born on April 16, 1985. He is currently signed under the Ultimate Fighting Championship and competes in the welterweight and lightweight divisions. He is noted for his win of the Ultimate Fighter 5 and as the younger brother of famed fighter, Nick Diaz. In addition to the UFC, Diaz also had worked under several other promotions including Pancrase, Strikeforce and World Extreme Cagefighting. As of February 2016, he is ranked 5th in his division by the UFC.
The American fighter was born and raised in Stockton. He trained with his brother, Nick, when he was 14 in mixed martial arts. In 2004, he began his career in mixed martial arts. Today, both of them run a school in Lodi that offers trainings in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.
The 6-foot mixed martial artist, who is also a vegan since he was 18, comes with a 76-inch reach. He trains with Cesar Gracie Jiu-Jitsu and uses boxing and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu as his main styles of fighting. He boasts of a 1st degree black belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and several accomplishments on top of being the Ultimate Fighter 5 winner. Some of these accomplishments include a seven-time Fight of the Night, a 5-time Submission of the Night and a one-time Knockout of the Night. He also won a one-time Performance of the Night and made it to the 2011 All-Violence Team.
Diaz holds the record for the most post-fight bonus awards and has the second-most submission wins in the history of the UFC. Since 2004, he comes with a mixed martial arts record of 29 fights with 19 wins and 10 losses. His wins include 4 by knockout, 12 by submission and 3 by decision.
