Demetrious Krishna Johnson is an American mixed martial fighter born on August 13, 1986. He is currently signed in with the Ultimate Fighting Championship. The fighter competes under the flyweight division and has been the first and current champion in the said division of the UFC. He comes with a 5’3” height which considers him the shortest male fighter in all of UFC. Not only that, he is also known for his elusive movement and quick striking and boasts of a record for the most takedowns in the flyweight category in all of UFC history. Another record-breaking fact about the fighter is that he is the only one in the UFC who had performed 10 takedowns in 3 different fights.
Many groups including the UFC, MMA Weekly and ESPN have hailed Johnson as one of the greatest fighter in mixed martial arts in the whole world. In fact, he is ranked second by UFC for the pound-for-pound rankings as of September 2015. Sherdog on the other hand, ranks him third for pound-for-pound and first in the flyweight division rankings.
Johnson was raised in Parkland, Washington. During his high school years, he was already a popular athlete in several sports including cross country, wrestling and track events. He even placed 2nd and 3rd in wrestling in all of Washington during his junior and senior years.
At present, Johnson is known as one of the fastest fighters in the mixed martial arts world. His fighting styles include wrestling and Pankration and he trains with AMC Pankration. He comes with a white belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and has an outstanding mixed martial arts record of 26 fights with 23 wins, 2 losses and 1 draw. His fights in 2015 were all successful against John Dodson and Kyoji Horiguchi.
