In the game of hockey, the slot is the spot on the hockey rink that is between the goalie and the face off area of the court, the two circles on either side. The deep lost is the area most toward the inside, toward the top of the circles and on the opposite end from the hockey goal tender. This is the reason why wingers exist for the offensive team, in order to control what goes on in the deep slot and this can be a dangerous spot for any player with a puck. This is in prime area for a good score, and thus teams are very defensive with the slot area on the rink during any competitive game.
