Offside

In the game of hockey, offside violations are violations that occurred when the feet of an offensive or defensive attacking player move across the blue line before the puck is passed across the blue line or into the attacking zone. And off-site a violation may also occur when a player passes the puck from his film across the red line to a teammate on the other end of the court. This is called a two-line pass and is one of the most commonly committed offenses made in the sport of hockey as far as penalty offenses go.

After an off site has occurred, the linesman may kill the play ended most cases a face-off is the only natural conclusion to an off-site violation. In this case the face-off occurs in the neutral zone closest to where the violation occurred in the first place.
