Icing

In the sport of hockey, icing is a violation of that happens when possession team shoots the puck from behind the red line to the goal line towards the goal but into the end of the rink rather than into the actual goal net. As a member of the opposing team touches the puck before then, this can result in the face off in the defensive zone of the offending team. In most cases, the penalty box cannot be the solution for an icing violation. The penalty box results in the short stats teams, and icing is not a serious of the violation or offense to warrant a shorthanded hockey team and a possible power-play.
