Jonathan Cheechoo
Jonathan Cheechoo is a Canadian right winger on the Ottawa Senators
Cheechoo was drafted by the Sharks in 1998, and went on to play a number of seasons in the OHL. In 2002, he was called up to the Sharks’ roster and saw limited playing time. The following year, he had a breakout season, finishing with 47 points. He played with HV71 during the lockout, and came back better than ever, scoring 56 goals and 93 points alongside superstar center Joe Thornton. The past two seasons, Cheechoo has seen his offensive numbers drop, probably due to a much more balanced attack across the board from the Sharks. His 56 goals in 2005-06 won him the Rocket Richard Trophy as leading goal scorer that season. Cheechoo scored only 12 goals and 29 points in 2008-09 and was traded to Ottawa after the Sharks failed to make a serious run in the 2009 postseason. Cheechoo and teammate Milan Michalek were traded as part of the blockbuster trade that sent superstar winger Dany Heatley to San Jose, after he demanded a trade from the Senators.
