Mathieu Garon
Mathieu Garon is a Canadian goalie on the Columbus Blue Jackets.
Garon was drafted by Montreal in 1996. He played parts of four seasons with the Canadiens from 2000 until 2004, and was traded to Los Angeles after the lockout. He was the starter for the Kings in 2005-06, winning 31 games and posting a 3.22 GAA. He was traded to Edmonton in 2007, where he won 26 of 44 starts and finished with a 2.66 GAA. In 2007-08, Garon was a perfect 10-0 in shootouts, allowing only 2 goals on 32 attempts. At the 2009 trade deadline, Garon was dealt to Pittsburgh, where he was Marc-Andre Fleury's backup for the remainder of the season. He would only play in one playoff game, Game 5 of the Cup Finals, when he replaced Fleury. As a result, he was eligible to have his name on the Cup. In the 2009 offseason, Garon signed with the Columbus Blue Jackets, to back up young phenom Steve Mason.
Garon played for Team Canada at the 2008 World Championships.
