Betsy King is one of the celebrated women’s golf players in the world. She was born in Reading, Pennsylvania, on August 13, 1955. She is presently living in Limekilin, Pennsylvania. During her prime, she won 34 tours and had 6 major awards.

She played during her college years where she became a team mate of another golfer. She attended Furman University then. She became professional in 1977.

However, it took time before she eventually found her way to success in the sport. She waited for more than 5 years before she got her first win in a tournament. It was in 1984 during the Women’s Kemper Open. Since then, there’s no stopping for King.

In the same year, she bagged two more wins in tournaments and finished in the second place for four times. She also finished in the top 10 for 21 times. All these made her deserving for the Player of the Year by the LPGA. She also won the same award for three more times and bagged two scoring titles. She also competed for money titles and ended up among the top 10 in the money list for 10 years, from 1985 to 1995. It was repeated in 1997.

Moreover, since 1984, she won at least one award for the course of 10 years; she garnered the most awards in 1989, when she took home more than 6 victories.

She had her downs, though. For example in 1993, she had won in just one tournament, though she was able to get a scoring and a money title.

Nevertheless, her failures didn’t define her. Because of her track record from 1984 to 1989, she had the record of the most number of wins by a golfer. When she won in 1995 for the 30th time, she was inducted to the Hall of Fame by LPGA.
