Colleen Walker
Colleen Walker is an American professional golfer who was born on August 16, 1956 in Jacksonville, Florida. She got married to Ron Bakich on October 16, 1987, and then gave birth to their son Tyler Walker Bakich on October 7, 1996.
In her amateur years, she was named Palm Beach Post and Player of the year for her amateur performances in 1974, she then won the All-State Golf Award in Florida in 1976, and became the Most Valuable Player at Florida State University from 1977-1978.
Walker started playing professionally in 1981. In her professional career, she won a total of 9 Ladies Professional Golf Association titles. Her first was in 1987 at the Mayflower Classic, in 1988 at the Boston Five Classic, in 1990 at the Circle K Tucson Open, and in 1991 at the Lady Keystone Open. She won 3 titles in 1992 which include the Oldsmobile LPGA Classic, LPGA Corning Classic and the SAFECO Classic. In 1997, she won 2, the du Maurier Classic and the Star Bank LPGA Classic.
With her success in the LPGA Tours, she was given 2 awards as a reminder of her achievement. These awards include the Vare Trophy in 1988 and the Heather Farr Player Award in 2004.
In January 2003, she was diagnosed with breast cancer. She underwent and completed treatment with chemotherapy and radiation by July. By September of that same year, she participated in the Women’s Senior Golf Tour, and got tied for the 10th place. Her latest competitive event is at the Legends Tour.
