Cilic to meet Warwinka in Chennai final
Defending champion and second seed Marin Cilic will face Stanislas Wawrinka in the final of the Chennai Open.
Cilic, the highest seed left in the competition following Robin Soderling's first-round exit, thrashed Janko Tipsarevic 6-1 6-3.
It took the world number 14 84 minutes to book his place in the final for the second year in a row.
Cilic, who beat Tipsarevic in the quarter-finals last year, was surprisingly broken in the opening game by the world number 38 but the 21-year-old powered back to keep alive his bid to become only the second player to successfully defend the Chennai title after Carlos Moya.
It was a much tighter affair in the second semi-final where Wawrinka took just over two-and-a-half hours to see off Dudi Sela 6-4 2-6 7-5.
Sela saved a break point in the final game but the third seed clinched the tie at the second time of asking as he took the game 40-30.
