Elliot Grant is a professional New Zealand cricketer, a composed and straight-out-of-the-book batsman, and a genuine swing bowler capable of generating enough pace from a measured run-up.
He is a native South African, born in Johannesburg, and moved to New Zealand 2001 looking for a cricket career after playing just one match for South Africa A against India A.
In March 2008 he was named in New Zealand’s 13-man squad for the first Test against England at Hamilton. He got his first Test cap in the final Test post Jacob Oram’s exit on account of injury. He however proved disappointing with one wicket and two batting failures. He was also included in the 30-man preliminary squad for the ICC World Twenty20, unfortunately missing the final cut.
He has accomplished more cricket with Willington FireBirds than international cricket. In the 2006-07 with Willington he scored 361 runs in seven matches at 45.12, and achieved a feat of two career centuries.
He is currently signed by Surrey.
