Swapnil Asnodkar is basically a right handed opening batsman who can bowl offbreaks. In July 2008, he was selected in Indian emerging player’s tour to Israel. At M.A. Chidambaram Stadium on 21st September 2008, India A side defeated New Zealand A side by 81 runs and Asnodkar was a part of this squad.
During the 2001-02 season, Asnodkar was chosen by Goa team and since then has been a consistent member of this team. In the 2007-08 Ranji season, he displayed tremendous form and accumulated 640 runs at an impressive batting average of 71.11. In the same season, while playing against the Railways, he scored 254 not out, which is his career best score.
He made his Twenty20 debut on 3rd April 2007 for Goa team against Hyderabad (India) at Visakhapatnam. Asnodkar was selected by Rajasthan Royals for the IPL 2008 season. On 1st May 2008, he debuted in the IPL while playing against Kolkata Knight Riders at Jaipur. In this match, he faced 34 deliveries and hammered 60 runs at an incredible strike rate of 176.47.
Swapnil Asnodkar has played in 14 Twenty20 matches in which he has accrued 380 runs at a batting strike rate of 130.13 and batting average of 27.14. His highest score has been 60 and he has smashed 9 sixers and 47 boundaries. While fielding, he has taken 6 catches.
