Robin John Peterson is a cricketer who has played for teams like South Africa, Warriors and Eastern Province Warriors other than Cape Cobras. This left hand batsman bowling style is slow left arm orthodox who has been presently selected by the Mumbai Indians to play at the IPL 2012 matches.
Peterson participated in One day Internationals for the first time on 25th September 2002 at Colombo against India. He bowled 10 overs, none of which were maidens, gave away 47 runs and failed to take a wicket. He did not get a chance to bat in this match. India won this match by 10 runs. Peterson’s first Test match was against Bangladesh at Dhaka from 1st to 4th May 2003. In the 1st innings, he was the 8th in the batting order and scored 61 runs in 109 deliveries. He bowled 8.5 overs, out of which 1 was maiden, gave away 22 runs and took 2 wickets. In the 2nd innings, he took 3 wickets while conceding 46 runs in the 27 overs he bowled, out of which 13 were maidens.
In the 6 Test matches that Peterson has played, he has scored 163 runs at a strike rate of 71.80 and batting average of 27.16. His highest score was 61 with 5 catches to his credit. In the 959 deliveries that he has bowled, he has taken 14 wickets while conceding 497 runs.
Peterson appeared in 55 One day Internationals, wherein he bowled 2217 deliveries, gave away 992 runs and took 49 wickets. He scored 258 runs with 36 as his highest score and his batting average has been 16.12 with a strike rate of 81.90.
