Vernon Philander is a right handed batsman and right arm fast medium bowler who plays for South Africa Cricket team. He was a member of teams like Cape Cobras, Devon, Middlesex, South Africa Under-19s, Western Province Under-19s, Western Province Boland and Western Province.
Philander made his Twenty20 debut on 1st April 2005 at Johannesburg in a match between Lions and Western Province Boland. In this match, he was unbeaten on 12 off 15 balls and did not bowl. He made his One day International debut on 24th June 2007 at Belfast against Ireland Cricket team. He did not get an opportunity to bat, but bowled 5.5 overs, out of which 1 was a maiden over. He took 4 wickets and conceded 12 runs. His economy rate was 2.05.
