Andrew Hudson said that Makhya Nitini’s current form in the English County Championship was very encouraging and there is a possibility that he would be considered for the upcoming matches along with other selected players. Moreover, Hudson is South Africa’s convener of selectors. Before Hudson’s comment, Ntini had said that the communication from selectors was disappointing since he had been dropped from the side due to a poor performance against England in 2009-10.
Hudson commented that there is no communication gap between the players and the selectors. Hudson was glad to see Ntini’s performance for Kent in England. He said that Ntini should continue his current form and also keep himself fit so that the selectors would be able to consider him when they pick the squad for the series against Zimbabwe to be played in September and with Pakistan in October, 2010.
Hudson said that performance would be the only criteria for the selection process irrespective of the matches a player has played for South Africa. Hudson was not a part of the selection team that axed Ntini for his poor performance in the Durban test, which was also Ntini’s 101st test match. After Hudson joined the selection committee, Dale Steyn, Morne Morkel and Wayne Parnell have emerged as Africa’s new pace attack.
Ntini is currently playing in England and has 24 wickets to his account with an average of 19.75 in four games for Kent.
