Born on May 19, 1962 in California, Guidi is a three time champion of the world who started boxing as a teen with her brothers at the Local Police Athletic League and has more than 25 years of experience as a boxer. She received recognition from the USA Boxing Federation when the organization officially recognized women boxers in 1994. She currently trains at King’s Boxing Gym in Oakland, California, and is known as a driven boxer who trains six days a week.
Guidi also had a good run as an amateur, with an undefeated record of 12 wins, nine of them by KOs. As an amateur she won the USA Box Off in 1995 as well as a Golden Gloves championship title. Aside from boxing, Guidi devotes her time and money charity causes and non-profit organizations. She regularly supports domestic abuse preventions and other research programs. Guidi, who is a lesbian, was also an active supporter of gay and lesbian rights. When asked whether she has faced any discrimination in the sport, she replied,
"I don't have any problem with it. I know that some people outside the ring have a problem with it, but to be perfectly honest with you, I am getting really close to not worrying about it. It's there but it's underlying."
Her partner Diane Butler is a visible figure in her career and assists her during work-outs and is often her ‘corner-man’ during bouts.
