Somsak Sithchatchawal is a professional boxer who was born on July 17, 1977 in Lampang, Thailand. He is a well-known boxer in the Super Bantamweight division. Before turning to professional boxing, Sithchatchawal did Muai Thai. He said that he was able to compete 25 times in Muai Thai events. And since a lot of Muai Thai fighters have the same built as he was, he did not see any chance for him to overpower them. So he shifted over to boxing since he saw more opportunities for him to win.
He challenged the WBA Super Bantamweight champion Mahyar Monshipour of France in March 2006. He won the title fight by a technical knockout in the 10th round. However, in that same year, by October 4, 2006, he was not able to defend the title. He was defeated by Celestino Caballero of Panama.
By September 2008, he fought against the Filipino, Joel De La Cruz at the Cebu Coliseum; however it resulted in to controversy since the judges were not in unison with their decision. The scorecards were reviewed and the Cebu Games and Amusement Board corrected the problem and settled for a draw.
