Sequoia Antrice Holmes is an American professional basketball player in WNBA. Born on June 13, 1986, in North Las Vegas to Sampson Holmes and Juanita Logan, she stands 5 ft 10 inches tall.
Sequoia played guard at Mojave High School, and was a three-year starter, leading the city in scoring all three years. She was named North West Division MVP and First Team all-state as a senior. Sequoia was also outstanding in track and volleyball. She played AAU basketball for the Las Vegas Hawks from 2000-04.
Sequoia chose the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV) over Arizona and Colorado State, majoring in psychology. She played basketball for the Lady Rebels under coach Regina Miller, for three seasons, from 2004 - 2008. Sequoia was not selected in the 2008 WNBA draft, but rather signed a free agent contract with the Houston Comets. She played through training camp with the Comets, and was signed to the team.
She was one of the top freshmen in the country during 2004 - 2005, in her junior year she was named MWC Defensive Player of the Year.
In her senior year, Sequoia led the Mountain West Conference in scoring, and was third in the league in rebounding and in steals. She finished her UNLV career with 1,485 points, ranking her seventh among all-time UNLV scorers.
