He began his professional basketball career with the New York Nets (1969-1970) in the ABA, followed by a season with the Cincinnati Royals (1970-1971) in the NBA, where he appeared in 55 games.He then joined the Indiana Pacers (1972-1974), where he won an ABA Championship in 1973. In total, he played 56 games in the ABA.

Arnzen also pursued a baseball career simultaneously, playing Minor League Baseball for several teams in the Montreal Expos organization.His baseball career included stints with the Gulf Coast Expos (1969), West Palm Beach Expos (1969-1971), Winnipeg Whips (1971), Québec Carnavals (1972), and Peninsula Whips (1972).
