Keith Bogans is a former professional basketball player who last played for the Westchester Knicks of the NBA Development League. After his stint as a basketball player, he attempted his luck being an assistant basketball coach on the same team for 2 years and the New York Knicks in 2019-2020.

Early Childhood and Pre-Professional Career

Bogans was born in Washington, D.C. He attended The Langley School and DeMatha Catholic High School as a child, and that's where he learned how to play basketball. When he was a senior in high school, he was one of the All-American team honorees. He was then guided by Morgan Wootten and was soon recruited by the University of Kentucky under Tubby Smith. In 2014, Bogans was one of the inductees in the University of Kentucky Athletics Hall of Fame.

NBA Career

Bogans is remembered for playing in many teams. When he was selected in the 2009 NBA Draft, he was soon traded by the Milwaukee Bucks to the Orlando Magic, where he spent only a year with the team. During his rookie year, he recorded an average of 6.8 points with 2.9 [assists][1] and 4.3 [rebounds][2] per game.

By the following year, he was traded to the Charlotte Bobcats and attended 42 out of 76 games with an average of 9.6 points. In 2006, he signed with the Houston Rocket but decided to go back to the Orlando Magic as a free agent. He spent 3 years with the Magic. However, he suffered a thumb injury, where it was required to be removed.

Other teams where Bogans were involved are Milwaukee Bucks, San Antonio Spurs, Chicago Bulls, and Boston Celtics.

Controversy with the Boston Celtics

Perhaps one of Bogans' controversies is how he walked away from the Boston Celtics due to inconsideration of giving him less playing time. Many analysts have commented that he should stay quiet about the issue because it might damage his reputation, yet he decided to angrily walk out. His contract was then moved to Philadelphia 76ers and two days later, they waived him.

However, Bogans cleared the air that he and Brad Stevens, the Celtics coach, was never involved in an argument, and the media were trying to portray him as the bad guy in the NBA community. What he was mad about is being perceived wrongly by his peers, when the truth is he waited for his contract to be traded to another team.
