Early Life and Education
Growing up in a large family with four brothers and three sisters, Crystal was instilled with a competitive spirit from a young age. She attended Haughton High School, where she distinguished herself as a notable athlete, earning an honorable mention on the Street & Smith All-America list. Not only did she excel in basketball, but she also made her mark in track and field. Her father, Michael Morgan, played a pivotal role in her development as he served as the assistant coach for her basketball team.College Career
Crystal took her talents to the University of Iowa, majoring in African American World Studies while playing for the Hawkeyes. Although her freshman year was marred by an ankle injury that sidelined her for the first seven games, she bounced back and played a significant role in the remaining games. In her sophomore year, her contributions grew as she participated in all 29 games, scoring 114 points and becoming a defensive standout with 49 steals.Her junior year marked a turning point, as she saw an impressive scoring increase that placed her among the top players in the nation. By her senior year, she had established herself as a leader on the court, earning first-team All-Big Ten honors and achieving the significant milestone of scoring over 1,000 points, becoming the 22nd player in Hawkeye history to do so.
Professional Career
Following her successful college tenure, Crystal was selected by the Phoenix Mercury with the 32nd overall pick in the 2006 WNBA Draft. Over her four-year career in the league, she has transitioned between different teams, bringing her skills and experience to each.
