Basketball is a team game. To be successful, individual goals must be put aside to benefit the team. The Washington Wizards are playing selfishly, and it is costing them the season.
With Gilbert Arenas finally healthy, and with the additions of Mike Miller and Randy Foye via trade, Wizards fans thought this was the year their team took the next step in becoming an elite team.
Unfortunately, this has not happened. The Wizards are not playing defense, and their offense consists of too many isolations, and one on one play. The lack of a power forward who can score in the paint is there major weakness. They have no inside game at all.
We know the talent is there. Arenas is not alone. Former all stars Caron Butler and Antwan Jamison must be leaders on this team. Head coach Flip Saunders, who is a veteran NBA head coach, is not a feisty, leader type of coach. That style failed him in Detroit, and it will ultimately lead to his demise in Washington.
In a year where the eastern conference is very competitive, the Wizards must not wait any time in improving. If they take too long, the season could be lost, and a lot of all star talent would be wasted.
