Julio Lugo is a Dominican shortstop on the Boston Red Sox.
Lugo was drafted by the Houston Astros in 1993. He joined them in 2000, and spent three seasons in Houston, before signing with Tampa Bay. He was traded to the Dodgers at the 2006 trade deadline, but signed with Boston in the offseason before the 2007 season. He was initially thought to be a contender for the leadoff spot, but his hitting woes have relegated him to the bottom of the order. He had one of the lowest batting averages in recent history before turning his performance around in the second half of the 2007 season. He won his first World Series with Boston in 2007.
