*Rocky Ty Cherry’ was born on August 19, 1979 in Dallas, Texas. He is a pitcher for the Baltimore Orioles.CollegeRocky was chosen by the Philadelphia Phillies in the 10th round of the June 2001 entry draft, but elected to attended the University of Oklahoma instead. He would graduate in 2003 with a degree in construction science.*Minor Leagues’ The Chicago Cubs drafted him in the 14th round of the 2002 draft, and he signed with them.
Rocky made his way through the Cubs’ minor league system, but missed almost all the 2005 season after having Tommy John surgery.
Major Leagues Rocky made his major league debut on April 23, 2007, appearing in relief against the Milwaukee Brewers.
On August 31st, 2007, the Cubs traded Rocky and third baseman Scott Moore to the Orioles for starting pitcher Steve Trachsel.
Rocky began the 2008 season on the 15 day disabled list with a shoulder strain. He then spent time with the AAA Norfolk Tides until being called up by Baltimore on August 8, 2008.
