The Toronto Blue Jays were more than happy to see Vernon Wells back in the lineup. Wells went 3 for 4 with a solo shot in his return from a broken wrist, as the Jays came back to beat the Orioles, avoiding a series sweep and snapping a 4 game skid. Roy Halladay has apparently found his groove, as he won for the 4th consecutive start and has not lost in his last 6 starts. The Jays ace went 7 2/3 innings giving up 4 runs on 8 hits, but did not allow a single walk. Scott Downs finished the 8th and BJ Ryan got his 13th save of the year, after blowing his last two chances.
The game was tied at 2 until the 6th when Halladay gave up a 2-run homerun to Luke Scott. It was Scott’s second homer of the game. The Jays responded with 3 runs in the 6th off Orioles rookie Matt Albers. The Jays managed to stay above .500 with the win and improved their record to 33-32.
