Pedro Returns to Mets

While Joba’s somewhat disappointing start dominated most New York sports circles Tuesday night, Pedro Martinez put together a successful return in his first start since April 1.

While Joba’s somewhat disappointing start dominated most New York sports circles Tuesday night, Pedro Martinez put together a successful return in his first start since April 1. Over six innings, Pedro fanned three batters, and gave up three runs on seven hits. Martinez added two singles and an RBI as well.

The rest of the Mets did their part to ensure that Pedro’s return was a success. In the top of the 5th, New York scored 9 runs, giving Martinez more than enough of a cushion to get the win. The Giants scored 3 runs off of Scott Schoeneweis in the bottom of the 9th, but Billy Wagner came in to induce a game-ending double play to get his 12th save.
