Frédéric Kanouté is a Malian international footballer who currently features for the Spanish giants Sevilla FC. He plays as a striker and is one of the potent forwards in Spain.
Frédéric Kanouté began his career in France where he was born and made his professional debut for the French giants Lyon in 1997 and after three seasons was signed by West Ham United after playing the second half of the 1999-2000 season on loan with the Londoners. He was a good hit at Upton Park and in the summer of 2003 was signed by Tottenham Hotspurs.
He flopped at White Hart Lane, scoring just 14 goals in 60 appearances and was signed by Sevilla FC in the summer of 2005 for 6.5 million euros. But in his first season in La Liga, he won the Pichichi award and won the UEFA Cup with Sevilla in 2006 and 2007.
Kanoute decided to play for Mali instead of France and has scored 8 goals in his 18 international matches for his nation. He was the joint top goal scorer for Mali at the 2004 African Nations Cup.
