Eduardo Cesar Daude Gaspar, simply and better known as Edu, is a Brazilian international footballer who currently features for the Spanish giants Valencia. He plays as a midfielder and can feature on the wing too and made his name at Premiership outfits Arsenal.
Edu commenced his professional carrer at Brazilian giants Corinthians in 1998 and won the 1998 and 1999 Brasileiro championships, and the 2000 World Club Championship. He was signed by Arsenal in the summer of 2000 but the deal was finalised only in January 2001 after he was found in possession of a fake Portuguese passport and after he had qualified for a EU passport.
Edu impressed in his years at Arsenal although he was at times plagued by unjuries. He was not always a permanent fixture in the Arsenal starting line-up but he did play 79 matches in all competitions.
Edu was signed by Valencia in the summer of 2005 on a free transfer on a five-year contract. But he suffered a horrific injury in the 2006-2007 season and has only just recovered.
Edu played for Brazil at Copa America 2004 and has made 16 appearances for his country.
