Luís Miguel Brito Garcia Monteiro,simply known as Miguel, is a Portuguese international defender who currently features for the Spanish powerhouse Valencia. Miguel plays as a right back.

Miguel made his professional debut for Portuguese side Estrela da Amadora as a winger in 1998 but after his transfer to giants Benfica in 2000 he was transformed into a right sided midfielder and ultimately to a right back which is now his customary position.

Valencia signed Miguel from Benfica in the summer of 2005 for 7.5 million euros and the player has been one of the consistent performers for los Che since then. He signed a new 5-year contract with Valencia in September 2007 and has played almost 100 matches for Valencia.

Miguel made his international debut for Portugal in February 2003 against Italy and has been a regular since. He has played at Euro 2004 and at the 2006 Germany World Cup.
