Jose Maria Volta

Jose Maria Volta is considered to be one of the most respected drivers in the sport today. Jose has more than 20 years of experience in the sport with many titles to his name. The Argentine was born in 1960 and has become a legend in the sport in his native country.

Volta has won four national titles in Argentina; three of them were won when he was paired with Gabriel Raies. He then shifted to the Companc brothers with whom, he participated in various national and international events.

With Luis Perez Companc, he won the Argentine Championships in 2005. This led them to three seasons on the World Rally Championships' circuit, the last two of which were in a Ford Focus RS WRC.

Being Argentine, it was not a surprise that the new Ford Rally Team, sponsored by a chain of Argentine Ice Cream parlours, Munchi's, came to their doorsteps to invite them for a drive in 2007. The duo joined Munchi's Ford Rally Team and took part in 9 of the 10 events in 2007. Jose Dias was called in to replace Volta in Greece but in 2008, Volta and Perez will drive the Ford Focus RS WRC together, at Rally Argentina, Rally Jordan and Rally Finland.

The pair will hope to replicate their past success and also gain valuable experience for the time ahead.
