Cato Menkerud

Norwegian by birth, Cato Menkerud was born in 1973 and it was almost as if he was born to be a co-driver. He started his career by reading out the notes for his Father, Helge. They participated in the 1000 lakes rally in Finland, in 1992 – his debut.

Cato has, since the days with his father, moved on to bigger and better stages with a number of drivers. He sat alongside Birger Gundersen and Alexander Foss. He then had the privilege to share the roll cage with Petter Solberg, before Solberg had become the force that he is today but Solberg was as fast a driver then even.

Cato settled down to a single partner after he came across Petter's older brother, Henning Solberg. The pair dominated the Norwegian Championships in 2002 and 2003, winning the titles in both seasons. Ever since then, they have developed an incredibly wonderful working relationship.

The duo were asked by the Stobart team to participate for them in a full programme, with the Ford Focus RS WRC, in the year 2007. Even though they didn't have the experience at that level of the World Rally Championships, the duo put in a solid performance with their best finish being a third placed finish at the Norway event, their home rally.

For the 2008 season, the duo are definitely better prepared with the event as well as with the cars. This should enable the duo to fight for a podium place in each and every stage of the event.
