Georges Laraque is a Canadian right winger on the Pittsburgh Penguins, and one of only 16 black hockey players currently active in the NHL.
Laraque was drafted by the Edmonton Oilers in 1995. He made a career as an NHL enforcer, becoming one of the most feared fighters in the league. He was voted Best Fighter in 2003, and expressed a desire to stay in Edmonton for basically the remainder of his career. He wanted a no-trade clause in his contract after the lockout, but was unable to reach an agreement, and signed with the Phoenix Coyotes. He was traded to Pittsburgh in 2006, and has become a fan favorite.
